Begin with the exact prescription

A meaningful price comparison starts with the product, formulation, dose and supply period. Wegovy tablets, Wegovy injections, Zepbound devices and compounded preparations are not interchangeable shopping items. A cheaper entry figure may cover a different product or an early dose that will change during treatment.

Write down the medication name as it would appear on the prescription, whether it is FDA-approved or compounded, the intended dose and how many doses the quoted supply contains. Then compare the pharmacy charge and clinical-care charge separately. This also helps identify offers that use the name of an approved medicine while supplying a compounded formulation.

Membership can be as large as the medicine bill

Hims and Hers’ current FAQs list a $39 first-month Weight Loss Membership and a $149 monthly renewal with medication excluded. Ro’s public pages list $39 initially, $149 on a monthly renewal or an ongoing equivalent as low as $74 when an annual plan is prepaid. These are care-access charges, not complete medication budgets.

Mochi has a separate $79 monthly membership, with a limited new-member promotion on eligible monthly plans. Its dose-based compounded medication figures are an additional payment. PlushCare separates membership, visits and pharmacy medication costs. Circle Medical describes no membership fee, but still has visits and medication charges.

“No membership fee” can be useful information, but it does not mean no medical cost. Ask whether visits, required labs, prescription renewals and side-effect follow-up are included or charged individually. Compare the actual treatment pathway you would use rather than the least expensive service a company offers.

A monthly equivalent can require a large first payment

Fella’s reviewed plan page advertises semaglutide from $99 per month and tirzepatide from $199, with annual payment and monthly delivery. The monthly equivalent describes the cost spread over a year; it is not a promise to charge just that amount each month.

Get Thin MD’s pricing page similarly distinguishes annual medication plans from higher month-to-month prices. A $119 monthly equivalent for semaglutide corresponds to $1,428 over twelve months, while a $179 equivalent for tirzepatide corresponds to $2,148. Confirm the checkout total, refunds and any non-medication charges before assuming those arithmetic totals are the final bill.

A prepaid commitment may reduce a monthly equivalent while increasing the amount at risk if your plan changes, a clinician declines continuation or you cannot tolerate treatment. Cancellation of future shipments and refund of an upfront payment are different questions. Ask both.

Budget for the maintenance dose

NovoCare Pharmacy’s reviewed page lists different oral Wegovy prices at 1.5 mg, 4 mg and the higher tablet strengths. Its low-dose injection promotion has a fill limit and expiry terms. A starting dose offer therefore does not establish the budget for later treatment.

Mochi’s current medication-pricing article also explains dose, state and pharmacy differences rather than a universal flat medication price. It says the in-account medication quote is the final reference. Orderly’s homepage explicitly separates introductory compounded offers from ongoing rates.

Ask for the next three expected charges under the clinician’s anticipated plan, while recognizing that tolerability can change the actual dose. Compare what happens after the introductory offer ends and whether supplies, labs or shipping change with the dose.

Read the billing clock and cancellation cutoff

A four-week medication supply covers 28 days. Thirteen such supplies cover 364 days, while a calendar-month membership has twelve charges a year. Those are arithmetic facts, not a prediction of how a particular company will bill. Ask each provider which clock governs care, medication and renewals.

Cancellation lead times differ. MEDVi and Shed’s reviewed policies refer to action at least 72 hours before renewal. Ivím’s agreement asks for at least 48 hours and distinguishes remaining program commitments. Ark’s page describes 15 days before the next order date. A generic “cancel anytime” headline is not enough to know how to prevent the next charge.

Save the renewal date, support channel and final terms. Get confirmation that a cancellation was processed, and arrange prescription continuity separately. A canceled subscription does not establish that a clinician has transferred your prescription or that a new provider has accepted treatment.

A comparison worksheet you can bring to the visit

For each option, record the product and dose; supply length; amount due today; care and membership fee; medication charge; labs, supplies and delivery; expected renewal; minimum commitment; cancellation deadline; and refund rule after clinical review or dispensing. Mark any unanswered item as unknown rather than zero.

For insurance, separate the insurer’s coverage decision, deductible, pharmacy copay and manufacturer savings eligibility. A provider can help with prior authorization without guaranteeing the result. Ask the insurer or pharmacy to confirm the cost for the actual prescription.

The final decision should also account for a clinician you can reach, clear dosing instructions and a verified pharmacy. Price transparency is useful, but it does not establish the safety or effectiveness of an unapproved product. Resolve both the clinical and financial questions before paying.

Sources and verification

Provider pages document what a company advertises. Prescribing information and regulator guidance support medical and regulatory claims. Reviewing a website does not verify its clinical service, pharmacy quality, or your eligibility.
